Hanuman Garhi was a mound in the 17th century. The small idol of Hanumanji, which is nowadays placed in front of the large idol covered with flowers, was worshiped under a tree.
Baba Abhayaram Das lived here. At the same time, the son of Nawab Shuja-ud-daulah (1739–1754) became ill. Hakim and Vaidya all lost and the disease continued to grow.
When the Nawab got upset, the Hindu ministers told about the importance of Baba Abhayaram and Hanumat Kripa on him. The Nawab agreed.
The ministers came and pleaded with Baba very much, then he came to Faizabad and saw the son of the Nawab. Abhayaram recited some mantras and sprinkled the water of Hanumanji’s Charanamrit.
After which he got up and sat down. In a few days he also recovered. The Nawab was very happy, said to Baba – We want to give you something, Baba said – We are sadhus, we do not need anything.
When the Nawab started making repeated requests, Baba said that it has been cured by the grace of Hanuman Ji, if you have faith, please get Hanuman temple built.
