He went to college at Baylor University in Waco, Texas.

With Baylor being a Christian college, David was amazed to find out that many of the pupils didn’t join the church. His cure?

He started one with a friend named Chris Seay! University Baptist Church was born in 1995 to make church (and Jesus) rather the 20th something students would not just come to and relish, but share to.

He was the lead vocalist of the David Crowder Band that started in 1996 and split in 2012 when Crowder started his solo career on sixstepsrecords which was a name of Sparrow Records.

During the band’s time together they released 16 singles through 6 studio albums, 2 live albums, 4 EPs and a compilation album.

Neon Steeple, the first solo album of Crowder was released on May 27th, 2014. Later, on 25th November 2015, the lead single, “I Am”, was released which charted Number 3 on the Billboard Christian Songs chart.

“Come as You Are” attained a Grammy selection in 2015 for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.

The album was first scheduled for issue on 18th February 2014, but was pressed back due to “inevitable conditions”. Crowder began his countrywide Neon Steeple trip on September 30, 2014.

His another solo album, American Prodigal, was out on 23rd September 2016. The first single, “Run Devil Run”, was out on June 18, 2016. “Forgiven” was out as the second single on March 17, 2017.

Crowder Quote:

From a 2013 interview with Christianity Today;

“My music is still music for the church to sing in a corporate setting, that’s for sure. That’s how I’m put together, and what I get excited about doing, helping the church announce things to God.”
