According to the myth on the island of Java, people can use black magic to get rich instantly but the spell requires sacrifice, that is human sacrifice, they must give up their human form and allow demons to transform them into wild boars for  short time, or can maintain their human from  and allow demons have their soul and be possessed by the demon.

Then the boar demon will then roam the village, rubbing its corpse against huts and houses, causing valuables such as gold and jewels to disappear. When the caster of the spell returns to his human form, he will find his house filled with stolen property which he has rubbed against

Babi Ngepet looks like a wild boar, although it looks bigger and ferocious then the normal boar. When looking at it with naked eyes, Babi looks like an ordinary but a big boar. When viewed through the camera, it obtains a human face instead of an ordinary boar nose, with muddy skin color and bloody mouth.

According to some myths, a man was wrapped in a black robe and then miraculously turned into bore After the transformation, the boar demon roamed the village, rubbing his body to the wall, door, cabinet or street.

Then Magically, the property of the villagers, such as money, gold and jewelry, will disappear, and a Babi Ngepet will be magically taken away.

If the mission is successful, by the time Babi returns home safely and transforms into a human form in a black robe, he will be full of stolen money and jewelry.

People practice the black magic will light candle and make it float on a basin of water, they assision  a person to guard the lit candle while they go out and rob , turning into Babi Ngepet.

People who practice the black magic of Babi Ngepet need help from others. They have to assign a person to stay at home and protect the lit floating candle from going off ,when Babi Ngepet goes out and rob.

If the candlelight flame shakes, fades, or almost goes out, Babi gets into danger, Either it will be caught by the villagers, based on this belief, Javanese villagers often chase and even kill boars that roam the village at night the candle going off may even mean that Babi Ngepet  changed into his human form.

Interpretation

The skeptical view is that this may be a traditional way to explain the unexplainable loss of wealth or mysterious theft caused by wild boars roaming the village at night. Perhaps this is a traditional method to get rid of wild boar from eating and destroying rice fields or barns.

The association of boars and wealth-related magic may originate from the Javanese’s pre-Islamic and pre-Indian Buddhist beliefs. These beliefs link the boar with domestic richness , wealth and prosperity, similar to its connection with the “Celengan” . It means piggy bank. The word Celengan is derived from the word Celeng, which means wild boar in Javanese
